Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro have become close friends over the course of the 2019-20 season but as the five-time NBA All-Star revealed on Sunday, Tyler isn’t even his favorite Herro brother.
Butler led the Heat to a Game 3 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers to cut the series deficit to 2-1 in the NBA Finals. He recorded 40 points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds and became just the third player ever to tally a 40-point triple-double in the NBA Finals.
Herro, on the other hand, scored 17 points, including eight in the fourth quarter. Herro helped ice the win following a tough and-1 finish over Rajon Rondo with less than a minute remaining. The shot set off social media after Herro gave his best mean-mug look.

After the game, Butler was asked about the scowl by Herro and he said that moment is why the Heat love him. He also detailed why Tyler is only his third favorite Herro brother.
Tyler’s always going to be Tyler. I think we all love him for that. But like I tell T all the time, he’s my third favorite Herro. His little brother Myles is definitely my favorite, so I’ll talk more to Myles tomorrow than I will to Tyler because I think he is the reason that Tyler plays like that. He understands that he looks up to Tyler, and so Tyler goes out there and plays with so much confidence because he knows that his brother is watching.
Butler has previously mentioned this year that he has developed a strong relationship with Tyler and both of his two younger brothers, Myles and Austin. Butler even said on The J.J. Redick Podcast earlier this season that both Myles and Austin are exactly like Tyler.
The two players have often spoken very highly of the other with Herro most recently saying that he wanted to get the Heat to the NBA Finals just for Butler. They still have plenty of work to do versus the Lakers but it is clear something special is brewing in Miami…
