Jimmie Johnson provides big update on NASCAR driving schedule in 2024

Jimmie Johnson provides a big update on his NASCAR driving schedule in the Cup Series for the 2024 season. Find out Johnson’s plans!

Almost one year ago, [autotag]Jimmie Johnson[/autotag] announced he would be joining Petty GMS Motorsports, now Legacy Motor Club, as a minority owner. It also included the opportunity of running NASCAR Cup Series races in a third car, which happened three times in 2023. However, the seven-time Cup Series champion appears to be lining up for more races next season.

According to NBC Sports’ Dustin Long, Johnson had made it clear that he plans to compete in roughly 10 Cup Series races next year. During the 2023 season, the Legacy Motor Club co-owner ran the Daytona 500, Coca-Cola 600, and Circuit of the Americas event. There was more planned but those did not come to fruition due to life events.

Overall, this would be very good for Johnson and NASCAR if the former is able to run 10 races next year. It was great to see one of the sport’s most successful drivers return and it never gets old to see him in a stock car. If these plans stay in place, everyone should be able to watch plenty of races with Johnson in them during the 2024 NASCAR season.
