Jim Harbaugh meeting with NFL team on Monday

The Michigan football head coach is set to meet with an NFL team on Monday as he weighs his options.

Let the games begin.

Now that Michigan football season is officially over with the Wolverines having gone 15-0 for the first time in program history, the typical offseason in Ann Arbor has officially commenced. No, not just because Michigan celebrated the national championship on Saturday evening with a parade and a gala at Crisler Center, but because Jim Harbaugh is flirting with the NFL once again.

It’s been a yearly thing before he even arrived on Dec. 30, 2014, the speculation that he’d be in the pro-ranks, but only since 2021 has he actually started meeting with teams.

The NFL carousel is in full-swing now, and according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Harbaugh is meeting with the Chargers in Los Angeles later on Monday about their job opening.

On Saturday at the Crisler Center event, Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel promised fans he would get Harbaugh’s contract extension. Last year, Harbaugh interviewed with the Denver Broncos and reportedly turned down a job offer.

There’s speculation that Harbaugh wants to leave and win a Super Bowl, but there’s other intel that indicates he’d prefer to remain in Ann Arbor. Whether he’s going through the paces, using meetings as leverage for his Michigan contract, or is genuinely interested in returning to the pros, we’ll find out sooner or later.
