Jets Week 7 Wednesday injury report: Jermaine Johnson could return next week

Jermaine Johnson could return next week, Russell Wilson dealing with hamstring issue

The Jets are likely going to be without defensive end Jermaine Johnson again this week against the Denver Broncos, as he did not practice Wednesday with an ankle injury. He is targeting next week against the New England Patriots for his return. Other than that, nothing major for the Jets on their injury report as they begin preparations for a trip to the Mile High City.

Duane Brown (shoulder) and Quincy Williams (ankle) appear as limited participants, but that’s been the norm for them lately. There were two new additions to the report this week. WR Braxton Berrios was limited Wednesday with a back injury and safety Ashtyn Davis was also listed as limited with a hamstring injury.

The Broncos’ injury report is an estimation as they only had a walkthrough coming off an overtime game Monday night in Los Angeles. On their estimated report, four players were listed as not practicing, including CB Essang Bassey (hamstring), LB Josey Jewell (knee), DT D.J. Jones (ankle) and OL Quinn Meinerz (foot).

Among the players listed as limited for the Broncos were WR Tyrie Cleveland (shoulder), CB Damarri Mathis (knee), S Caden Sterns (hip), OL Billy Turner (knee), CB K’Waun Williams (wrist/elbow) and last, but certainly not least, QB Russell Wilson (hamstring).

Wilson said he is “feeling better every day, day by day” and is hoping to play Sunday, saying he’s “doing everything I can to get ready to roll, that’s always my mentality.”

RB Melvin Gordon (neck/ribs) and TE Eric Saubert (thigh) were full participants. Head coach Nathaniel Hackett has already announced Gordon will start Sunday.
