Jets to sign WR Keelan Cole

Keelan Cole gives the Jets a second wideout addition on an inexpensive one-year deal.

The Jets won’t lack receiving options in 2021.

After signing Corey Davis, New York will now add former Jaguars wideout Keelan Cole on a one-year, $5.5 million contract, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Cole joins a receiver group with Davis, Denzel Mims, Jamison Crowder, the recently retained Vyncint Smith and Jeff Smith, Braxton Berrios and Josh Doctson, among others. The Jets likely won’t keep all of them before the 2021 season, though.

Cole has been a solid contributor for the Jaguars over the past four years. He put in his best season in 2020, catching 55 receptions for 642 yards and five touchdowns. He’ll turn 28 in April.

The Jets offense needs as many playmakers as it can handle, and Cole fits the bill as an inexpensive option for whomever the quarterback is in 2021.
