In what has been…a football game of sorts, the Jets and Patriots are tied, 3-3, at halftime.
The Jets have been so-so, to say the least, on offense. Zach Wilson is 5/11 for 65 yards and, while he has mostly taken care of the football (zero interceptions), he’s been fortunate at times today as well, including a throw that sailed over tight end Tyler Conklin and simply dropped by Devin McCourty.
Wilson is also leading the charge on the ground. Of the 36 rushing yards the Jets have, Wilson has 26. That’s right, the Jets’ running backs have a combined 10 yards on nine carries. Michael Carter has seven yards on four carries, James Robinson with three yards on three carries and Ty Johnson has zero yards on two carries.
In the passing game, would you believe the two leading receivers at the half are Denzel Mims and Elijah Moore? Indeed, Mims has that 34-yard catch on a nice adjustment to a short throw from Wilson and Moore has TWO catches, his first since Week 5, for 17 yards. Conklin has one catch for eight yards and Garrett Wilson has one catch for six yards.
Defensively, the Jets are doing their thing again. They have already sacked Patriots quarterback Mac Jones three times. Quinnen Williams and Carl Lawson each have a sack, while Quincy Williams and John Franklin-Myers each were given a half-sack on the first play of the game.
They have held the Patriots to 151 total net yards, but only 55 on the ground. However, Jones is 12/15 for 120 yards and a QB rating of 100. Fortunately, the Jets scored a huge third-down sack in the red zone and Nick Folk missed his first field goal ever against the Jets.
The Jets are 2/6 on third down while the Patriots are 4/9. Neither team has turned the ball over yet, though the Jets nearly had a fumble recovery early in the game that was ruled incomplete.
The Jets will start with the ball in the second half.
