Jets make quarterback change as Tim Boyle enters for Zach Wilson in third quarter

The Jets finally used the hook on Zach Wilson, benching him for Tim Boyle.

Many will say it took much longer than it should have, but the Jets have replaced quarterback Zach Wilson. Late in the third quarter, down 29-6, the Jets put backup quarterback Tim Boyle into the game against the Buffalo Bills.

The Jets had held on as long as they could and said all the right things, but it was only a matter of time before the Jets used the hook on Wilson, who went 7 of 15 for 81 yards, one touchdown, one interception and was sacked five times. He finished with a quarterback rating of 57.9.

Wilson’s longest completion was the same as Thomas Morstead’s longest completion on his fake punt (18 yards). Wilson didn’t complete a single pass to wide receiver Garrett Wilson on four targets.

The Jets could very well do what they did last season and demote Wilson to the No. 3 quarterback and make him inactive. That would mean Trevor Siemian would either be elevated from the practice squad or signed to the active roster, but more likely the former.

In any event, time may have finally run out on the 2021 No. 2 overall pick.
