Jets lose top OL Alijah Vera-Tucker ahead of Bills meeting

#Jets lose top OL Alijah Vera-Tucker ahead of #Bills meeting:

The Buffalo Bills spent Week 7 resting up on their bye.

To their credit, the New York Jets spent it winning against the Denver Broncos, but also were very banged up in the process.

Along with losing top rookie running back Breece Hall to a season-ending ACL injury, New York has lost their top offensive lineman.

According to Jets Wire, tackle Alijah Vera-Tucker is out for the season due to a triceps injury.

New York’s offensive line had already been dealing with a slew of injuries in 2022. Others hurt include the injuries to top linemen such as Mekhi Becton, George Fant and rookie Max Mitchell.

Vera-Tucker is just the latest and one of the toughest blows because of his consistent play. Through six games, Pro Football Focus graded Vera-Tucker an overall mark of 71.1. That was good for the 11th best tackle grade handed out by PFF in the NFL.

Not only was Vera-Tucker a positive producer, his versatility allowed him to play in three different spots on New York’s O-line. That had helped the Jets (5-2) stay afloat with other injuries.

Without Vera-Tucker in the lineup, Cedric Ogbuehi will be the starting right tackle.

In terms of the Bills, this blow for the Jets could certainly give them an edge on the field in two weeks. After Buffalo face the Green Bay Packers in Week 8, they’ll travel to New York for their first meeting of 2022.

Not to mention, the Jets are surprisingly right behind the Bills (5-1) in the AFC East standings at this point.
