Jets improve to 16th in latest power rankings

The Jets improved to 16th in the Touchdown Wire’s latest power rankings following their win over the unbeaten Eagles.

The New York Jets defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 20-14 in Week 6, handing the Eagles their first loss of the season. Following the Jets’ improbable victory over the Eagles, Touchdown Wire’s Jarrett Bailey has moved the Jets up to 16th in the latest power rankings.

After beating the Denver Broncos by double-digits in Week 5, the Jets were ranked at No. 19 in the power rankings. But taking down one of the premier teams in the NFL is one way to ensure you move up a few more spots in the rankings.

Zach Wilson and the offense didn’t do anything extraordinary to help the Jets secure the win at home over the Eagles. The defense made things difficult for Jalen Hurts and the Eagles, forcing four takeaways and limiting them to only 14 points.

With an inconsistent quarterback leading the offense and Nathaniel Hackett calling the plays, it’s tough to get overly excited about a 3-3 Jets team. At the same time, this defense is talented enough to carry Robert Saleh’s squad to a victory, which we saw on Sunday versus the Eagles.

The Jets are entering their bye week in Week 7, and they’ll look to continue climbing the power rankings with their next three games coming against the New York Giants, the Los Angeles Chargers, and the Las Vegas Raiders.
