Jets fan apologizes to Zach Wilson for how team treated him

A Jets fan rushed down to the front row during pregame to apologize to Zach Wilson for how the organization treated him from 2021-2023.

Zach Wilson is back at MetLife Stadium today as the Denver Broncos visit the New York Jets in Week 4 of the 2024 NFL season.

Wilson, of course, spent the first three years of his career with the Jets before being run out of town. Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported Sunday that Wilson received a warm welcome from one fan before Sunday’s game.

“A fan came in as soon as they let the games open. He [comes] to the front and starts yelling at Zach Wilson who was warming up with the Broncos quarterbacks,” Garafolo reported on NFL Network. “I thought he was yelling at him. Turns out he was apologizing to him for how the organization treated him the last couple of years. And [he wished] him nothing but the best. He had [Wilson] laughing, he had all the quarterbacks around him laughing. So some Jets fans still want the best for Zach Wilson.”

Wilson served as Denver’s scout team quarterback this week, imitating Aaron Rodgers at practice to give the defense a look ahead of Sunday’s game in New Jersey. He embraced Rodgers at midfield during pregame and he is now serving as the Broncos’ emergency third-string quarterback.
