Jets believe Zach Wilson is best option after looking at every possible option

Zach Wilson is the plan moving forward…for now.

The Jets are rolling with Zach Wilson. They looked over every possible option and believe Wilson is their best option moving forward for the Dallas game in Week 2 and beyond. This according to a report from Dianna Russini of The Athletic.

For months on end, head coach Robert Saleh has consistently told reporters and anyone who would listen that they are sticking behind Wilson. Even after acquiring Aaron Rodgers, their hope was to continue to develop Wilson “come hell or high water” and help him get his confidence back and work on his mechanics.

Wilson did help lead the offense on a game-tying drive late in the fourth quarter and then the defense held serve in overtime before Xavier Gipson’s 65-yard punt-return touchdown to give the Jets a 22-16 win over the Buffalo Bills.

Wilson will start in Dallas, certainly a tough task following Dallas’ dominant performance in Week 1 against the New York Giants, pitching a 40-0 shutout.

With Wilson back as the guy, it feels like now or never. If Wilson can keep the ship afloat, then maybe there’s still hope for him with the Jets. If he struggles and the Jets end up trading for a veteran, it may be time to pack it in and start looking to the future.
