The Jets are among the most interested teams vying for CB Stephon Gilmore, according to The Athletic’s Connor Hughes. The 49ers and Raiders are also interested, though Hughes reported that New York and San Francisco are leading the charge.
The former Panthers and Patriots cornerback could fetch a high price on the open market after J.C. Jackson signed a five-year, $82.5 million deal with the Chargers and Carlton Davis re-signed with the Buccaneers on a three-year, $45 million deal. The 49ers are hoping to get Gilmore for less than $15-16 million per year, according to Hughes.
Gilmore, 31, is coming off his fourth consecutive Pro Bowl season after playing nine games with the Panthers following a trade from the Patriots. He finished with two interceptions, a 77.1 Pro Football Focus grade and a 79.4 coverage grade. Gilmore has earned five Pro Bowl selections, two All-Pro selections and one Defensive Player of the Year Award (2019). He has 27 career interceptions and 116 defend passes.
