Selection Sunday is finally here as we will soon see the full 68-team bracket for the NCAA Tournament. It’s always an exciting day for college basketball fans and sometimes stressful if your team is on the bubble.
For North Carolina, they are safely in the tournament and the only question remains: Which seed will they get?
Almost every mock bracket updated for Sunday morning has the Tar Heels as a No. 1 seed, earning the final one in the West Region including ESPN’s Joe Lunardi. One notable analyst who releases a mock bracket leading into Selection Sunday is CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm. And he is one of the lone analysts to have the Tar Heels off the one line in favor of Iowa State.
After the Cyclones won the Big 12 Tournament and UNC fell to NC State, Palm moved Iowa State ahead of UNC. He now has the Tar Heels as a No. 2 seed in the East Region lined up with No. 1 UConn.
The good news is that Palm is in the minority on this. The bad news? You really never know what the committee is going to do come Sunday night.
