Jerod Mayo shares update on Patriots QB Drake Maye’s hand injury

All signs continue to point to Drake Maye playing in Sunday’s finale

New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye is dealing with a hand injury, but it hasn’t impacted him during practice sessions, according to coach Jerod Mayo.

The Patriots plan to start Maye in Sunday’s season finale against the Buffalo Bills. They’ll be doing so at the risk of losing the No. 1 overall pick of the 2025 NFL draft.

A win could put their position on the draft board in jeopardy, and they clearly have a better shot of winning with Maye in the game.

The rookie quarterback has provided stability for the Patriots at the quarterback position since taking over in Week 6. He has 2,276 passing yards, 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions on the season.

This could also be seen as a positive with the Patriots getting an opportunity to see Maye under center one more time this season. NFL game reps are invaluable, and Maye needs as many as he can get at the next level.

He has the potential to be the cornerstone of the Patriots’ franchise, and he gets one final chance to show that against a stout Bills team.
