New England Patriots coach Jerod Mayo is already looking to improve as he works his way through his first year as an NFL head coach.
The 2024 campaign has been a rocky run with the team currently sitting at 3-7 on the season. It hasn’t all been bad, and the team has responded to Mayo on the football field. They have won two of their last three games after he challenged them publicly by referring to them as “soft.”
The arrival of rookie quarterback Drake Maye has made things seem more hopeful as well. That along with the improved coaching, from Mayo down to all of the assistant coaches, has been a huge lift.
Mayo expects even more growth when he enters his second NFL season. Per the Boston Herald’s Andrew Callahan, the Patriots’ coach said he expects to make his “biggest jump” from Year 1 to Year 2.

It hasn’t been an easy run working with a rebuilding roster, but Mayo is pushing to get the best out of the group, while also taking in knowledge he hopes helps him be a better coach in the future.
