Jermar Jefferson scores fantastic TD then gets carted off with an ankle injury

Jefferson was injured at the end of his 28-yard TD run

Lions rookie running back Jermar Jefferson put the Lions on the scoreboard in Pittsburgh. But, as is often the case with this Detroit team, nothing good can happen without some bad accompanying it.

Jefferson blasted through the Steelers defensive front on a well-blocked play and rambled 28 yards into the end zone early in the second quarter of Sunday’s Week 10 game. The touchdown tied the game at seven and was the first real sign of life from the Lions offense.

As he got to the goal line, Jefferson got horse-collared from behind by Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. While he landed in the end zone for the touchdown, Jefferson also got injured on Fitzpatrick’s illegal (but unpenalized) tackle attempt.

Shortly after the score, Jefferson was carted off to the locker room. The initial report from the sideline is that the rookie RB is questionable to return.
