Jeremy Pruitt discusses Tennessee’s quarterback situation.

Tennessee offensive lineman Darnell Wright (72) can’t contain Kentucky linebacker Jamar Watson (22) as Watson sacks Tennessee quarterback Jarrett Guarantano (2) during a SEC conference football game between the Tennessee Volunteers and the Kentucky Wildcats held at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn., on Saturday, October 17, 2020.

On his message to Jarrett Guarantano today

“Well the first thing is that getting the ball knocked out of his hand wasn’t his fault. He should’ve taken a check down when he threw the ball down the middle. And on the route we ran on 3rd-and-4, I’m not crazy about the call to be honest, and that’s my fault. It’s nobody else’s but mine. So, should we have thrown it? I don’t know. Did the receiver push the guy off? I don’t know. I didn’t see that, I was watching the interior part of our line of scrimmage. I just know that I’ve never been a big fan of throwing 35-yard out routes when you need four yards. I just don’t believe in the risk versus reward. Rather, if we’re going to throw the ball, then every one of our receivers are running toward the goal line and not away from the goal line. So that’s something that has to be addressed.”
