On what went into the decision to play freshman Harrison Bailey
“There was an opportunity to put him in the game. He hasn’t had a lot of reps, as far as the game plan versus Kentucky, but it was a good chance to get him out there and let him and some of these other guys get some reps. I think that’s good. That’s good for him. He made one nice throw there and he’ll make better throws and he’ll do a lot more stuff as time goes on. He’s a hard worker and everybody in our quarterback room has got to work hard. We had some issues early on in camp that shouldn’t be there now, because we’ve had four weeks in a row where we’ve had everybody out there. We should be gaining steam offensively and we haven’t. I actually thought today, from a physicality standpoint, we played better offensively running the football than we had in the previous games. We threw the ball, threw some nice passes out there, but (we can’t have) four turnovers. Our defense did a nice job early in the game to give our offense field position. We didn’t take advantage of it twice. It should have been 10- 0 at the end of the first quarter and it wasn’t. It was zero to zero. I think at one time, Kentucky had one or two first downs and was winning the game 14-0. It’s hard to win games that way. The first maxim … ‘The team the makes the fewest mistakes wins.’”
