KNOXVILLE — Jeremy Pruitt met with media Thursday and discussed a number of topics regarding Tennessee’s football team as preseason gets closer.
One topic discussed centered around if new players arriving this summer will be affected in regards to being able to contribute early.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, new players have adjusted to an altered schedule and first arrived on campus June 8. Early enrollee freshmen were also affected by the pandemic, participating in only two spring practices.
“I think with all of our young guys, they’ll all have an opportunity,” Pruitt said.
Pruitt mentioned Tennessee’s freshmen “have the physical talent to contribute.”
“The one thing about freshmen you always want to be cautious of is putting unrealistic expectations on them,” the third-year Tennessee head coach said. “The day they got here, we met with them and talked to them from a football standpoint.
“We just want to get a little better each day. As long as they continue to do that — they’ll all be fine. Their opportunities will be present themselves. They’ll have a chance to take advantage of that.”
