Jeremy Pruitt calls for Tennessee to raise ‘expectations as a program’

2020 National Signing Day.

NASHVILLE — Tennessee concluded its National Signing Day celebration tour in Nashville at The Barn at Sycamore Farms.

The Vols capped off its 2020 recruiting class by adding Dee Beckwith and Malachi Wideman on National Signing Day. The pair join 21 other players who signed during the Early Signing Period.

Tennessee has momentum both on and off the field after the Vols finished the 2019 campaign with a six-game win streak. Tennessee has since capitalized on its success on the field with momentum on the recruiting trail.

During the National Signing Day celebration in Nashville, Pruitt mentioned that Tennessee going 8-5 (5-3 SEC) is still not the expectations he has for the UT program.

“I would say for everybody that’s associated with Tennessee, we need to raise our expectations,” Pruitt said. “I know everybody’s excited we went 8-5 and finished the year the right way, but we’ve got to raise our expectations as a program, as a fan base, because the people we’re competing against, they’ve been trying to kick us while we’ve been down. We’ve been kicked around a little bit — it’s time for us to start doing a little bit of kicking ourselves.”
