Browns linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah made the cut as one of Pro Football Focus’ top breakout candidates for 2022 among the draft class of 2021. Owusu-Koramoah joined some other prominent second-year players that includes QB Trevor Lawrence in the group of talents poised to surge upward in 2022.
It’s not like Owusu-Koramoah was bad as a rookie. “JOK” finished second on the team with 76 total tackles and two forced fumbles in 14 games. Just for good measure, he also added 1.5 sacks and four PDs.
Despite that decent start, PFF believes Owusu-Koramoah is eminently capable of bigger and better things in his second NFL season,
Owusu-Koramoah looks primed to take the leap from nice rookie to full-blown difference-maker in 2022. He already was that guy at times for the Browns last year before he was hampered by injury. He had games of greatness, like when he notched three pass breakups against the Chicago Bears and when he managed nine stops against the Baltimore Ravens. While Parsons grabbed headlines at the position, JOK was a versatile and steady piece for the Browns’ defense. If he can simply improve upon his 17.4% missed tackle rate, he’ll be a top-10 linebacker in the league.
Owusu-Koramoah showed he’s got the intelligence, attitude and athleticism capable of fulfilling the prophecy here that he’ll be a top-10 LB soon.
