Jedd Fisch calls on fans to attend Saturday’s “Big Husky Kickoff”

Washington’s head coach wants fans to give Saturday’s mock game a Big Ten environment.

After holding a scrimmage on August 10, coach Jedd Fisch is planning another for August 17, which he has dubbed the “Big Husky Kickoff” and has asked for Washington fans to show up to give the stadium a Big Ten feel.

“We would really love to have a good crowd in this place so our guys can get accustomed to what that feels like,” Fisch said on Saturday. “Being in the stadium for the first time gave us a little bit of some jitters.”

Fisch has made Saturday’s mock game free to attend, but fans can also choose to donate to Montlake Futures when reserving their tickets. The last time Fisch called for a big crowd to attend a scrimmage, he got a great result when 18,448 people attended.

Although he was hoping for 40,000 people to show up and came up short, it was still the most heavily attended spring game in recent memory. With the season approaching quickly, Fisch wants some of his new stars like Will Rogers to get a feel for Husky Stadium, and is expecting to have some notable names back.

Fisch also said on Saturday that edge rusher Zach Durfee and center Landen Hatchett, along with safeties Kamren Fabiculanan and Cameron Broussard, are expected to be at full strength for the scrimmage.
