With so many question marks for the New England Patriots heading into the 2020 season, one positional group leaves little doubt: the cornerbacks.

With 2019 NFL Defensive Player of the Year Stephon Gilmore leading the way, the group has both skill and depth. Gilmore tallied six interceptions, which tied him for first in the league. He also led the league in passes defended with 20.

J.C. Jackson also figures to be a major part of the unit. He has recorded six interceptions since he came into the league in 2018.

When you consider the talents of Jackson and Gilmore, that is certainly a formidable duo. Adding Jason McCourty on top of that, New England’s secondary is a force  to be reckoned with.

When asked by the media on his thoughts regarding the cornerbacks, Jackson described them rather succinctly.

“Scary,” Jackson said after the Patriots’ latest training camp practice. “It’s a scary sight, man.”

The unit themselves should be a scary site for opposing quarterbacks. With New England having to face the likes of Patrick Mahomes, Deshaun Watson and Russell Wilson among others, a loaded secondary is ideal for this upcoming season.
