Jayson Tatum says his own knee soreness a thing to ‘maintain and keep an eye on,’ but ‘nothing extremely to worry about’

Expect health to be priority No. 1 for Boston moving forward.

While much of the news surrounding the unfortunate injury news that Boston Celtics starting center Robert Williams III will miss an undisclosed amount of time due to a meniscus tear, it should not go unnoticed that the Celtics star forwards Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum have both been dealing with knee soreness of their own, the latter even icing his knees instead of spending his usual time on an exercise bike mid-game on breaks from play.

Asked about that knee icing, Tatum replied that his leg is “feeling better” than it had been heading into the game on Sunday evening.

“It’s still something that we have got to maintain and keep an eye on on a day-to-day basis,” added the St. Louis native. “But, nothing extremely to worry about.”

Regardless of Tatum’s confidence, expect the Celtics to value health over seeding, especially with Williams looking likely to be out for an extended period if not the rest of the season.

Seeding is likely a low priority for Boston moving forward, and their availability in future games remaining in the 2021-22 NBA season may well be adjusted to prioritize rest over wins moving forward.
