Boston Celtics guard Jayson Tatum, like many of us, grew up idolizing the great Kobe Bryant. On Sunday, he went out and put in a performance that the late Kobe would have loved and Tatum did it while paying a sweet tribute to his hero.
Tatum, who worked out with Kobe after his rookie year and became good friends with him, wore a purple wristband on Sunday, which would have been Kobe’s 42nd birthday.
Tatum had 28 points in Sunday’s Game 4 win over the Sixers which gave Boston the sweep and pushed it into the second round of the playoffs.
This purple wristband was a great tribute to Kobe:

He also wore a Kobe shirt to the game:

It’s still hard to believe that Kobe isn’t with us anymore but these gestures by Tatum were very sweet.
