The first player ratings for the upcoming release of NBA 2K22 dropped on Wednesday, and four superstars share the top overall rating in the game. LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Steph Curry and Kevin Durant all received a 96 overall for the launch of the game, though James believes both Curry and Durant deserve a 99.
Celtics star Jayson Tatum has one of the top overall ratings in the league – but the recent gold medal winner isn’t thrilled with the number he received.
The NBA 2K team adjusts player ratings throughout the year to reflect each player’s current performance. Tatum’s final rating in 2K21 was a 91, and before learning of his 2K22 rating, he said he felt his base rating should be a 92 for the new year. He was shocked to find out that 2K had relegated him to a 90 overall for the launch of 2K22.
“I don’t know how we keep going backwards. I scored 50 points in the playoffs twice, four 50-point games. Tied Larry Bird’s record. 27 a night.”

Tatum also predicted that by the end of the season he’d be rated a 95 overall in 2K22.
