Boston Celtics All-Star forward Jayson Tatum’s eponymous foundation is helping the Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFG) raise funds to help local families in light of the coronavirus pandemic and its impact on food security throughout the greater Boston area.
The Duke product’s foundation, created to help “positively impact and inspire children, teens and their families through education, athletics and other individual and family building initiatives” among other goals, has partnered with the food bank and Lineage Logistics, a major food storage company, to help families in need in the era of COVID-19.
The initiative posted the following message to potential donors on the page for the fundraiser on the GBFG website:
“As COVID-19 continues to negatively impact our families, loved ones and communities, I am, through The Jayson Tatum Foundation, partnering with Feeding America and Lineage Logistics on their “Share a Meal” campaign. Together, Lineage Logistics and The Jayson Tatum Foundation are pledging to match $250,000 in the Boston area to help provide meals through Feeding America and The Greater Boston Food Bank. This campaign will help some of the hardest hit communities in Boston receive meals.
If you are able to help, I am asking my family, friends, fans and partners to make a donation. The Greater Boston Food Bank is a 501c3 tax exempt organization. No donation is too small and every dollar donated will go straight to making sure that our neighbors receive the much needed food and supplies.
I would especially like to thank all the frontline worker and volunteers who are working around the clock to keep all of us safe and healthy. TOGETHER….we will make a difference.”

Tatum also announced on his Instagram he’ll be doing the same in his native St. Louis with help from his lifelong friend and Washington Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal, the pair organizing a drive with the St. Louis Food Bank along similar lines.
“As this virus continues to spread, the future has never felt so unpredictable,” began the Missourian.
“And while I sincerely pray that everyone is staying safe, healthy and social distancing, the reality is this virus has negatively impacted our … communities in so many ways … I am, through The Jayson Tatum Foundation, partnering with @feedingamerica and @lineagelogistics on their “Share A Meal” campaign.
Together, @lineagelogistics and The Jayson Tatum Foundation are pledging to match $250,000 in the Boston area and, with my good friend and fellow basketball player Bradley Beal, $250,000 in the St. Louis area, to help provide meals through @feedingamerica, @stlfoodbank and @gr8bosfoodbank.
