Jayson Tatum 10th, Jaylen Brown 15th in ESPN MVP poll

The Celtics’ star wings are raising their NBA profile with almost every game.

While they certainly aren’t as high as you might want them to be as Boston Celtics fans, it’s hard to rate Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown higher than they came in as players making a showing in ESPN’s recent MVP straw poll.

If anything you might flip-flop the two young Celtic wing’s positioning based on recent play, with All-NBA forward Tatum coming in 10th overall in the polling and likely first-time All-Star Brown 15th overall. The poll mirrored the practice of MVP voting as much as possible with 100 voters spread evenly through the league’s 28 markets, complete with the five-player ballot and NBA point system based on where they fell on that list.

Tatum had one third- and one fourth-place vote for a total of 8 overall points, and Brown just one fifth-place vote for a single point.

While it’s almost impossible for either to make up the ground needed to get into the legitimate MVP conversation, it bodes well for the future to have two young players already on the award’s fringes.
