Jaylin Williams to travel with team to Athens, not expected to play

It appears as if Williams will need more recovery time after sustaining a knee injury in last Saturday’s game against Kentucky.

Auburn fans were relieved to learn that forward [autotag]Jaylin Williams[/autotag] would not require season-ending surgery after sustaining a knee injury in Auburn’s 70-59 loss to Kentucky last Saturday.

It does appear, however, that he is not ready to make a return to the court.

Head coach [autotag]Bruce Pearl[/autotag] shared an update on Williams’ injury status ahead of the team’s game at Georgia on Saturday evening. Pearl says that Williams will make the trip to Athens with the team, but is not expected to play.

Although it is disappointing that Williams will not play on Saturday, it is relieving to know that recovery is going well and that he is making the trip to support his teammates. Williams has been a vital piece to Auburn’s lineup this season by averaging 13 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. He has scored 20+ points in eight games this season, including a season-high 26 points in the Tigers’ win over Alabama on Feb. 7.

Auburn faces Georgia on Saturday at 5 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on SEC Network.
