It’s hard to remember the last time an Arkansas player broke out in the middle of the season the way Hogs forward Jaylin Williams has.
The sophomore averaged 13 points and 13.5 rebounds in wins over Missouri and Tennessee last week and earned SEC Co-Player of the Week honors for the second time this season, the league announced Monday. He shared the award with Vanderbilt’s Scottie Pippen Jr.
Williams scored in double figures just twice in Arkansas first 14 games. He had double-digit rebounds three times in that span. But since January 8, a span of a 13 games, Williams has had double-digit points totals every time out and double-digit rebounds totals nine times.
Overall, Williams is the team’s fourth leading scorer at 10.3 points per game and he’s second in the SEC averaging 9.6 boards.
His first Co-Player of the Week award came January 24 after wins against South Carolina and Texas A&M. He averaged 17.5 points and 10 rebounds that week.
Arkansas travels to Florida on Tuesday for a game against the Gators in Gainesville, a place the Razorbacks haven’t won since 1995.
