Raise your hand if you didn’t know Boston Celtics fourth-year shooting guard Jaylen Brown had any soccer skills to speak of.
In a recently-released video documenting a trip the Georgia native shared with Atlanta Hawks big man Clint Capela (who was still with the Houston Rockets at the time) to promote basketball in South Africa in 2017, the pair can be seen playing a little football (not the American sort) with some locals.
Let’s just say Brown doesn’t have a career as a goalie in his future — but he’s not too bad for an amateur, either.
Capela and the Cal-Berkeley product joined soccer star Thierry Henry at the Kaizer Chiefs training field to help promote basketball in the soccer-heavy local environment, spending time meeting and talking with fans after some not-especially-competitive play.
“It is great to welcome world stars to our shores and particularly to the Kaizer Chiefs Village,” said Kaiser Chiefs marketing director Jessica Motaung via an article on the team’s website.
“The guys had fun playing football on the training field and appeared to enjoy their visit as much as we enjoyed having them as our guests.”
