Jaylen Brown jokingly says the Celtics need to ‘free Tacko’ Fall

A few players on the Celtics, including Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, openly campaigned for Fall to receive more playing time.

Tacko Fall has become a fan favorite this season given his personality and skillset on the court but the 7-foot-5 center has also become a hit amongst his Boston Celtics teammates.

The former UCF product has bonded well with all of his new teammates this year during his limited time with the Celtics and a few of them recently offered praise for him.

In an interview with SLAM Magazine, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart and Gordon Hayward sat down to talk about a variety of topics, including Fall.

During one exchange, Brown even campaigned for Fall to receive more playing time.

Tatum: He’s the goat.

Brown: Tacko is the goat. You seen his per-36 [stats]?

Tatum: 45, 26 rebounds, 13 blocks a game.

Brown. Different. They need to stop playing with Tacko. Free Tacko, man.

Of course, the players were having some fun with Fall as the rookie adjusts to life in the NBA.

Fall hasn’t played much with the Celtics, per his two-way contract, logging just five appearances in the NBA so Brown decided to openly campaign for Fall. His per-36 minute stats, as noted by Brown, jump off of the page: 29.7 points, 15.7 rebounds and 3.1 blocks.

The legend of Fall was evident on Saturday night.

Fall earned a standing ovation before checking into the game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Fall recorded two points in 2:32 of playing time as the Celtics beat the Sixers for the first time this season, 110-89. Prior to Saturday, Fall hadn’t played in the NBA since Jan. 8.
