Jayden Wayne has his best practice yet in Washington’s first scrimmage

The local product had a strong showing in his first live reps of the fall.

Jayden Wayne and Deshawn Lynch formed a standout combination of edge rushers for the Washington Huskies on Saturday. In the first scrimmage of fall camp for Jedd Fisch’s team, the pair combined for 2 sacks, while Wayne also tallied 2 on his own, giving him 3 for the day.

While mainly working with the second-team defense, he showed added strength and a growing arsenal of pass rush moves that gave Washington’s offensive line plenty of trouble as he continuously put quarterback Demond Williams Jr. under duress.

After practice, Fisch had high praise for Wayne and the chemistry he’s formed with Lynch.

“I think Jayden Wayne showed up a bunch today,” Fisch said on Saturday. “I saw him make some plays in the screen game, which was really impressive. He’s strong, he’s big…[both Wayne and Lynch] can play outside and inside, which will give us a lot of flexibility. I think they feed off each other really well and they’ve become good friends.”

If the pair can continue to develop and offer their versatility to Belichick’s scheme in the coming weeks, they could add to what’s quickly becoming an exciting group of pass rushers in Seattle.
