[autotag]Jayden Daniels[/autotag] set the SEC on fire during his first season on the Bayou. Daniels transferred from Arizona State to LSU with hopes of reinvigorating his football career. He was able to find the same magic he had during his freshman season for the Sun Devils.
Daniels started all 14 games for the Tigers as he led them to a 10-4 record while completing 69% of his passes and throwing for 2,913 yards, 17 touchdowns, and three interceptions. He averaged 208 yards per game through the air. That was just the first year of him learning a new offensive system.
As he enters Year 2, he has a year of experience under his belt in the SEC. Daniels is much more relaxed and comfortable in the offense and [autotag]Mike Denbrock[/autotag] has noticed it.
“Yeah, I just think, you know, year two allows him a comfort level from a knowledge standpoint — from a knowledge of, not only offense but knowledge of personnel, where he feels like he can let it rip a little bit more,” said Denbrock at a recent press conference, noting that he’s giving the senior more freedom in that respect.
“And we continue to encourage him to do that more and more and more, and I think he’s taken it upon himself as much as anything to play that way and be aggressive and make sure that he’s given opportunities where they’re needed — and being smart with the football at the same time.”
Daniels has played so well that he has entered the conversation for the Heisman trophy this year. He has a chance to take LSU all the way to the national championship.
