Jay Harbaugh breaks down Michigan’s RB room at great length

A thorough breakdown of what each of the Wolverines RB are best at, where they are in their development and how they’ll be utilized in 2020.

Chris Evans

As noted, Evans missed an entire year of football after being suspended for academic reasons.

He spoke to WolverinesWire last month about his return to the team and how he’s managed to stay on top of his game, but it’s a little different hearing directly from his position coach about his winter conditioning and return to the team.

From what Harbaugh has seen, Evans hasn’t missed a beat.

“He’s come back and he’s been highly motivated, he’s been a leader,” Harbaugh said. “He’s been really, by all accounts, been really impressive. The workouts and been on top of his business. So that’s great to see, and as a coach, you love to have that veteran leadership. And especially a guy like him that hasn’t been the smoothest, most perfect ride, but that’s now a strength for him, and he can now impart that wisdom on the younger guys and sometimes that type of wisdom and leadership is more impactful.

“Having him there from an intangible perspective has been and will continue to be great. Football-wise, he’s guy who will be great to have, because he has a certain type of elusiveness to him that not many guys on our roster have. And it’s really, it’s pretty special in the scope of our conference and nationally with what he can do in tight spaces with his feet, with his hips. It’ll be a nice weapon for us.”
