It turns out former Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden will indeed join the Jacksonville Jaguars as offensive coordinator.
The Jaguars announced the move Wednesday.
Just like that, Gruden is in charge of overseeing a potential franchise passer in Gardner Minshew, depending on what happens with the failed Nick Foles experiment.
Gruden will also get to lean hard into a Leonard Fournette-led rushing attack to balance things out, which he went into this last Redskins’ campaign trying to do with Adrian Peterson.
The Redskins fired Gruden just a few games into his tenure this season and handed things over to Bill Callahan, who didn’t have a chance to install his own approach over the offseason and had to do it slowly.
As a sign of things to come, Dan Snyder has since retooled his entire front office and brought in a new head coach with Ron Rivera. We’ll again see what a Gruden-led attack looks like outside of Washington.
