Things are getting quite uncomfortable in Charlotte.
Prior to kickoff of Sunday’s matchup between the Carolina Panthers and the Dallas Cowboys, NFL insider Jay Glazer reported that head coach Frank Reich may be on the thinnest ice in football. Glazer said the following of Reich, who reclaimed play-calling duties from offensive coordinator Thomas Brown this week.
“If I’m going to be taken down here, I’m going to go down swinging my way,” he said on Fox NFL Sunday, per Scott Polacek of Bleacher Report.
“But without a doubt here, Frank Reich has the hottest seat in the league.”
The Panthers entered Week 11 with the NFL’s worst record at 1-8. They also came in averaging the third-fewest yards per game (275.6) and the fourth-fewest yards per game (17.0).
A similar report from earlier in the morning by Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports also suggested that Reich’s buns might be a bit toasty. Jones wrote that a league source told him “some sharks are out here wanting this job.”
