Jaxson Dart has cemented himself as “the dude” for Ole Miss and Lane Kiffin at quarterback.
Following Saturday’s 42-0 Ole Miss victory against Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Dart appears to be in the leader in the two-man battle for the starting quarterback spot with Luke Altmyer.
Dart likely won’t be fielding questions about his status next week when the Rebels host Tulsa. That game will be a relative scrimmage. This past Saturday figured to be more of a test than the upcoming Tulsa game. Georgia Tech’s defense played well against Clemson for two and a half quarters before relenting in the fourth. Dart handled the challenge … and he also handled his head coach.
Dart completed 10-of-16 passes for 207 yards against Georgia Tech and ran for 40 yards in the road blowout. Lane Kiffin said this after the game:
Lane Kiffin gave Jaxson Dart credit for being able to "take an a** chewing and regroup" after throwing an interception to close the second quarter. Dart led three-straight scoring drives in the third.

Dart looked very poised in the second half, connecting with Malik Heath and former USC Trojan Michael Trigg on some impressive passes that made fans and broadcasters alike take notice.
Dart and Kiffin will have two more tune-up games at home against Tulsa and on the road against Vanderbilt. After that the Rebels have the toughest schedule in the nation.
They play Kentucky, Arkansas, Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M and rival Mississippi State in the final two months, so the Rebels have their work cut out for them over the next few months in the SEC.
Get you a QB who knows how to use the truck stick. 😳@JaxsonDart | #HottyToddy
