The Seattle Seahawks have a dynamic duo at wide receiver with DK Metcalf and second-year stud Jaxon Smith-Njigba… but they could become historic on Sunday.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba has finally emerged as the game-changing weapon the Seahawks believed they were getting in the first round when they took him No. 20 overall in the 2023 NFL draft. Over the last two games, JSN has been practically unstoppable, as he has racked up 17 receptions for 290 yards and two touchdowns. The receiving total should actually be higher, as 78 yards were taken off the board against the Rams thanks to Seattle holding penalties.
Should JSN keep up this hot streak, and have another 100 yards through the air, he will join his teammate DK Metcalf in franchise history. If he accomplishes this feat, he will become the second Seahawk all-time to have three-consecutive 100+ receiving yard games.
Metcalf became the first Seahawk to reach this mark, and he did it this year from Weeks 2-4. Metcalf had receiving totals of 129, 104 and 104 respectively.
If there was ever a day for JSN to ball out, it would be today. Not just because the Seahawks have a shot at first place should they win, but also because on the other sideline is JSN’s fellow former Buckeye, Marvin Harrison Jr. You can bet he wants to have a bigger day than his old teammate.
