Earlier this month, Touchdown Wire’s Doug Farrar ranked the top 11 running backs in the NFL, and a Denver Bronco made the list.
Despite coming off a serious knee injury, Broncos’ second-year running back Javonte Williams is ranked as the 10th-best RB in the league going into the 2023 season.
Here is part of Farrar’s commentary on Williams:
After a career at North Carolina in which he clearly proved himself to be the best running back in the 2021 draft class, Williams took that all the way with the Broncos, who selected him with the 35th overall pick in the second round. In a rotation with Melvin Gordon, Williams gained 903 yards and scored four touchdowns on just 203 carries… and he forced 66 missed tackles, second-most in the league behind Jonathan Taylor of the Colts. Williams also had nine carries of 15 or more yards — not bad at all for a rookie.
Elsewhere in the AFC West, Josh Jacobs (Raiders) and Austin Ekeler (Chargers) also made the list.
Christian McCaffrey (49ers) is ranked No. 1. To view Farrar’s complete top-11 running back rankings, visit Touchdown Wire.
