JaVale McGee (ankle) leaves Game 2 vs. Rockets, will not return

The Los Angeles Lakers will be without their starting center for the rest of the game after leaving with pain in his ankle.

The Los Angeles Lakers suffered another injury to their team as the Houston Rockets stormed back to take a lead in the 2nd half of Game 2 of the second-round series between the two teams. L.A.’s starting center JaVale McGee started the 2nd half but quickly left the game with pain in his ankle and he will not return, according to Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times.

McGee played eight minutes on the night and had two rebounds, scoring zero points. The Lakers used McGee at center, as well as Anthony Davis and Markeiff Morris while electing to keep Dwight Howard on the bench. After opening up a 16-point halftime lead, the Rockets outscored the Lakers 41-23 in the third quarter, kicked off by a 14-0 run by the Rockets against the Lakers starting lineup.

Anthony Davis had 10 points in the third quarter but James only had three points. After going scoreless in the 4th quarter of Game 1, one would think LeBron is due for a big 4th quarter.
