Jarvis Landry hints at returning soon but will be ‘smart’ about it:

The Cleveland Browns have been without wide receiver Jarvis Landry for three games after he was placed on injured reserve due to a knee issue. While Landry’s injury may not be the biggest one facing the team right now, he is an important piece of the puzzle for the Browns offense.

Jedrick Wills, Jack Conklin, Greg Newsome II, Denzel Ward and Jadeveon Clowney may all be higher priority concerns for the team due to Cleveland’s depth at the skill positions on offense. Landry has already completed the required three games on injured reserve and is able to come off when healthy. As of early Wednesday morning, we are still awaiting word on the status of the others.

Could Landry have helped in the team’s Week 5 loss? Most likely. Could he be helpful in Week 6 against the lone undefeated team in the NFL, the Arizona Cardinals, most likely.

In a conversation with Marla Ridenour, Landry hinted that he could be returning soon but that they would play it smart:

“We’ve got three home games this next little turn, so it will be a perfect time somewhere in there if I can get back,” he said. “At the end of the day, the team and myself and my camp, we’re smart about the decisions about coming back or not and when that will be.”

For Baker Mayfield and Kevin Stefanski, Landry’s ability to get open in short areas and catch the football on important downs is very valuable. His ability as a blocker in the run game has also been missed.

A Landry return in Week 6 could be a big boost for the Browns offense but it seems like the return may be a week or two away still.
