Jarrett Allen recognizes teams are defending him differently

Teams are adjusting to Jarrett Allen on the offensive end. He might need to make a few changes of his own.

For all the hype around the elite duos in the NBA — of which the Brooklyn Nets will have one of the best when both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant are healthy — Spencer Dinwiddie and Jarrett Allen make for a good Batman and Robin.

While that’s not Dinwiddie’s favorite tech-genius superhero, the chemistry the two share bears comparison to the iconic fictional duo because they move almost as if they share the same brain. Allen always knows when and where to go off the screen. Dinwiddie knows where the big likes to receive the ball and he frequently puts the right pace and arc on his lobs.

They’re tough to stop when things get going, which has happened quite often since Irving and LeVert went down. But Allen’s scoring has dipped recently.

The Fro was able to score 12 in the win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday, but he only scored seven and eight points in the games against Toronto and Phoenix, respectively.

Teams are adjusting to Allen. He knows this and explained what’s going on to reporters in New Orleans:

I see a lot of people who’ll run their two guys over then tag me on the rolls so me and Spencer can’t get the easy lob. It’s kinda been a different coverage.

Given how dominant these two can be, it might be time they talk a new strategy when Kenny Atkinson goes over the offense with the team leading up to Brooklyn’s matchup with the Spurs.
