The NBA recently announced Giannis Antetokounmpo as the 2020 Defensive Player of the Year. Eleven other players received at least one vote, whether they be first, second or third-place votes.
Among those other 11 players was Nets center Jarrett Allen. He received one third-place vote.
The Brooklyn big man received just as many votes for NBA All-Defensive consideration, garnering a single second-team vote. Allen was the only member of the Nets to receive a vote.
Outside of Utah’s Rudy Gobert (first team) and Milwaukee’s Brook Lopez (second team), five other centers received All-Defensive consideration, including Allen. The other four were Oklahoma City’s Steven Adams, Portland’s Hassan Whiteside, Cleveland’s Andre Drummond and Philadelphia’s Joe Embiid.
Joining Antetokounmpo and Gobert on the 2019-20 NBA All-Defensive first team are Los Angeles’ Anthony Davis (Lakers), Boston’s Marcus Smart and Philadelphia’s Ben Simmons.
Along with Lopez, Los Angeles’ Kawhi Leonard and Patrick Beverly (Clippers), Miami’s Bam Adebayo and Milwaukee’s Eric Bledsoe made the second team NBA All-Defensive for 2019-20.
