The instant Amar’e Stoudemire joined Steve Nash’s coaching staff in Brooklyn, there was one player who came to mind as someone who could benefit greatly from working with the retired five-time All-NBA big man: Jarrett Allen.
There’s no doubt the young Nets big man is already good rolling to the basket off the screen, but there are few who had it down like Amar’e Stoudemire did when he was with Nash in Phoenix. Now, there was more to Stoudemire’s game than rolling to the basket and throwing down — it’s just what he’s most remembered for.
As it turns out, Soutdemire has already found plenty else to discuss with Allen.
“Amar’e has been great so far,” Allen told Brian Lewis of the New York Post. “He’s been giving me tips when we’ve been working out, he’s been giving me little pointers on how to elevate my game. Showing me some post moves, just telling me about his mentality on rebounding, basically those things so far.”
