One of the big changes in Jared Goff’s quarterbacking life now that he’s a Detroit Lion is his need to get familiar and comfortable with a brand new set of receivers. Goff comes from the Rams, where he had a fairly stable corps over the last few seasons.
So far, Goff is enjoying what he sees in Detroit. It’s a group that is almost entirely new to Detroit, just like Goff himself.
After Tuesday’s first session of minicamp, Goff was asked about building rapport with the likes of Breshad Perriman, Tyrell Williams, T.J. Hockenson and Kalif Raymond.
“It’s been great,” Goff responded. “It’s something we’ve been working on prior to coming out here (to Detroit). We went out to L.A. and had some workouts there with the guys. It’s been fun.”
Goff continued,
“Any time you get to have new teammates and have a chance to build rapport with them, that’s something I always enjoy. Lots of really good guys, good players, and it’s been a really good time.”
The chemistry was still in the development stages during Tuesday’s session. Goff had some misfires and his receivers, notably Perriman, had issues shaking coverage in red zone drills. But it’s still the beginning of the road for the new-look Lions.
