Jared Goff’s first year in the NFL NFL was unlike most quarterbacks’. He was drafted by a team that had just moved from St. Louis to Los Angeles that same year, and to make matters worse, “Hard Knocks” was there to document his every move as a rookie.
Lucky for Goff, the Rams are once again being featured on “Hard Knocks” this season. They and the Chargers were chosen to appear on the show, with the premiere airing on Aug. 11 at 10 p.m. ET.
Goff doesn’t mind the camera crews being there as much this time around – even admitting it’s been fun for him.
“It’s good. It’s fun. It’s a much different vibe, obviously, this time around. I actually said this to Artis (Twyman) a few minutes ago, it doesn’t feel like they’re there as much as it did in my rookie year,” he said. “I think for whatever reason, it felt like they were always around. And this year, it feels like they’re in the background a little bit. It’s probably a testament to our team, the way we’re focused, and focused on the right things and being really dialed in on football. It feels good. It hasn’t been an issue at all. I think they’re using it as more of a fun thing this time around.”
It helps that the camera crews aren’t allowed in the building where players and coaches are, giving them some space from filming.
“It’s because they are not allowed in the building, we have a little bit of a buffer there,” he said. “But no, it’s been good. They’ve been really good with us, and really good with everyone. I think it’ll be a different experience I think this time for everyone hopefully.”
“Hard Knocks” will have a very different feel this year, as Goff alluded to, because there will be no preseason games, joint practices and limited time on the field altogether. One thing we will probably see on the show is COVID-19 tests, which crews filmed last week.
It’s an unprecedented offseason for everyone, and “Hard Knocks” will try to capture that on the show this year.
