Jamison Crowder, Keelan Cole expected to return for Week 2

The Jets’ offense could return two key contributors in receivers Jamison Crowder and Keelan Cole.

The Jets’ offense will be closer to full strength in Week 2.

Robert Saleh said Wednesday he expects receivers Jamison Crowder and Keelan Cole to be back this week for the Jets’ home opener against the Panthers. Crowder needs to clear COVID-19 protocols after testing positive for the virus last week, while Cole missed Week 1 with a knee injury but put in a limited practice Wednesday. If both return, Zach Wilson will have his full crop of pass-catchers, which also includes Corey Davis, Elijah Moore, Braxton Berrios and Denzel Mims.

Offensive tackle Mekhi Becton, whom the team placed on injured reserve after he dislocated his knee cap in Week 1, will get a second opinion on his injury before deciding if he needs surgery, Saleh added. Becton’s timeline is a minimum of four weeks but could be longer depending on if surgery is required.

Linebacker Jamien Sherwood, who suffered an ankle injury against the Panthers, didn’t practice Wednesday, but Saleh hopes to get him back in a week. The Jets are already without linebackers Jarrad Davis (ankle) and Blake Cashman (hamstring), but they signed B.J. Goodson as a possible starter for Week 2.
