Golden State Warriors center James Wiseman remains hopeful that he will still be able to train with Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett over the summer months.
Wiseman said back in April that he planned to link up with Garnett during the offseason and hit the gym. The two had been in contact at that point and made plans to meet up together at a later date to work on some things on the court.
The news of their plans surfaced just prior to Wiseman suffering a torn right meniscus. He underwent surgery to repair the injury on April 15 and was ruled out for the remainder of the season. He is expected to be fully healthy to start next season.
Recently, Wiseman sat down with Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area on the “Dubs Talk” podcast and said the two should still be able to get together over the summer.
“We should,” Wiseman said. “I am getting better rapidly, at a high rate. I’m getting better each day because I’m taking care of myself so that should still happen, for sure.”

Wiseman said that Garnett is one of his favorite players and singled out his intensity and ability to play defense. He would love the opportunity to pick his brain on certain concepts in an attempt to take his game to the next level on the court.
The potential to train with Garnett figures to have a great impact on the development of Wiseman. Garnett established himself as one of the best post players in history, and the tips and pointers he could provide Wiseman would be invaluable.
