James Harden became the second Nets player to be named Eastern Conference Player of the Week this season, receiving the honor for games played between Jan. 25 and Jan. 31. Kevin Durant was the last Nets player to received the honor this season, which he was awarded after his strong stretch from Jan. 11 to Jan. 17.
This is the first time Harden has been named Eastern Conference Player of the Week, having spent all of his previous years in the NBA in the Western Conference — he’s received Western Conference Player of the Week honors 25 times.
In Harden’s three games from Jan. 25 and Jan. 31, he averaged 25.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 11.3 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.0 blocks per game while logging in 37.6 a night. Harden shot 56.8% from the floor during the span, 55% from 3-point territory and 88.2% at the free-throw line.
Harden is the 27th Net to every receive Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors. With Harden earning the honor, he and Durant became the first Nets teammates to win the Eastern Conference Player of the Week award in the same season since Brook Lopez and Deron Williams in the 2014-15 campaign.
